What is a Lift Inverter ?
An Lift inverter is a device that operates an elevator in a building with the help of electricity stored in the battery when the light goes out. The capacity of this inverter depends on the motor as well as the passenger capacity of the lift.

How to calculate inverter capacity ?
As you know , the word to word meaning of inverter is an inverter that gives emergency power to a lift in a building inverter comes in VA . therefor, in order to choose the right inverter, it is necessary to know about the actual power consumption of the particular lift.
For this the per phase current of the lift is measured by the clamb meter my moving it up to down. After that, if there is some more lighting or other load, the final power consumption is extracted, that is, the VA of the inverter is calculated by it.
Let’s understand in very simple language
example
If the current per phase is 5 amps
So the total current of three phases will be 15 amps
watt = amps x voltage
watt = 15 x 230
watt = 3450
If we add 500 watts of lighting consumption then total watt will be 3950.
Formula of VA is
VA = watt /0.8
VA = 3950 / 0.8
VA = 4937
We need to install 4.9 VA or more rated Inverter for calculated load.
I hope you understand basic idea of what is lift inverter and how to calculate it.
